Our Story
At Cave Creek Montessori, our mission is to inspire children to see learning as a joyful, lifelong journey—one that nurtures not only their intellect but also their social and emotional growth. We believe in protecting each child’s inner spirit and providing positive, meaningful learning experiences. Rather than relying on adult will to motivate, we guide children in ways that spark curiosity and inspire learning from within.
Our family’s Montessori journey began over 30 years ago. In 1993, Roy and Kathy opened Paradise Valley Montessori School, serving toddlers through 3rd grade. Five years later, in August 1998, they founded Cave Creek Montessori—right in the home where our family lived. We started with a single classroom and just nine students. Over the years, our campus has grown to five classrooms, serving toddlers through kindergarten, with a summer program that also welcomes 1st–3rd graders.
For more than two decades, we’ve had the privilege of watching children flourish in a warm, engaging environment that feels like family. It’s our greatest joy to see them leave our doors with a love of learning that will last a lifetime.
What makes Cave Creek Montessori unique?
At Cave Creek Montessori, family is at the heart of everything we do. Our school is truly family-run, and that warmth and care can be felt the moment you walk through our doors. Founders Roy and Kathy live just around the corner and still stop by often to visit with staff, greet families, and see the children at work and play. Their daughter, Kelsey, now serves as our director and welcomes families each morning with a smile.
Kelsey’s own story began in a Montessori classroom, sparking a lifelong love for learning. She is an AMI-certified teacher for children ages 3–6, holds a BA in Communications from Arizona State University, and earned her Master’s in Education from Loyola University. Her sister, Ana, also followed her passion for education—earning her degree and teaching our elementary summer program for many years before moving to Boston.
Our family has always operated our schools with a dedication to creating a warm, supportive campus where staff and families come together in mutual respect for the good of every child. We carefully select professional, passionate individuals who understand the privilege of working with children and who take an active role in guiding them toward the joy of discovery and the wonder of learning. If you think our school might be the right fit for your family, we’d love to meet you.
